E-Bike FAQ

Why would I buy an electric bike over a regular bike?: They make pedalling feel effortless, so you don't get tired as quickly. And they make it easier to maintain a constant speed and get back up to speed after stopping, which may cut down your journey time. They are also really fun! We all hate hills!
If I want to ride my e-bike on the road, do I need a licence?: There is no licence needed for e-bikes.
Are e-bikes heavier than standard bikes?: The battery, motor, extra components, and reinforced frame make e-bikes inherently heavier than standard bikes.
How long does it take to charge?: A lithium ion e-bike battery that is fully depleted will take 3.5 to 6 hours to recharge.
What is the range?: The range on your e-bike depends on several things, EG. How much effort the rider puts in, how much the rider weighs, how hilly the route is. The battery life is like petrol in your car. Please click here to the Bosch e-bike range calculator.
How fast can I go?: As fast as a normal bike… the electric motor of the bike will assist you to 15.5mph the UK legal limit above this it’s up to you!
Do I have to pedal?: Yes, you do need to pedal all electric bikes in the UK are rider assisted, the ‘twist and go ‘ the other option with no rider input is classed as a motor cycle and you would need to have a license, electric bikes are rider assisted up to 15.5 mph, the rider has 4-5 assistance levels to choose from. Eco which gives little assistance and long range to turbo which gives max power and shorter range, all these options make cycling mega fun with a lot less effort especially on those BIG hills.
Can I ride the bike without the power on?: Yes, you can ride an e-bike with the battery off. Riding an e-bike without the battery will not harm or damage the motor. However, riding an e-bike with a flat or no battery will make the bike harder to pedal, especially during inclines.
Does it recharge as I pedal?: No, it does not.
Should I completely drain my battery before charging?: This is not required. It is in fact, best to always top up our batteries, even if you have only travelled 10 miles, just top it up.
Will an e-bike move without pedalling? Does it have a throttle?: The e-bikes we sell assist you whilst pedalling, they do not have a throttle.

Other FAQ

When my bike arrives is there anything I need to do? Or is the bike already set up?: There are a few things you would need to do once you receive your bike. You will need to attach the front wheel, seat post, handlebars and pedals. If you have any other questions, please give us a call.
What is done to the bike before it is sent out to me?: We service your new bike before it is sent out to you, we then carefully repackage your bike to be sent out.
How does the sizing work for kids’ bikes?: It’s based-on age, for example 5 – 9 years.
Can I order a bike?: The stock on our website is live, so you can order a bike through our website. Or over the phone with us. If the bike you want is not available you can let us know what bike you're looking for and we can add you to our waiting list. We will email you once we know the bike you're looking for is coming in to us.
What size would I need?: Please click here to our size guide.
Do I get a warranty when I buy a bike?: There is a 5-year warranty on the bike frame, and a 2-year warranty on the other parts. T&C’s apply.
Do you offer NHS/Student/Military discount?: Yes, we do, we ask for a copy of your ID. Then we can give you the discount code. T&C’s apply, this is only for card purchase, no finance or cyclescheme.
Do you sell accessories?: Yes, we have a wide range of accessories in store and on our website under accessories.
Why is there a shortage of bikes?: At the moment there is a big demand for bikes after last year. Covid19 has massively affected production. A bike has lots of different parts from around the world and the factories have been closed for a while, for a bike to be sold it needs all of its parts.

What are the payment options?

Our payment options are: through our website, over the phone, though finance, cyclesheme or instore cash or card. Please note: If you are purchasing a bike though finance or cyclescheme no other discounts can be added to your order.

How do I order a bike with a Cyclescheme/ cycle2work / bike2 work voucher? (any government scheme)

Please find the bike you’re looking for on our website and add this to your basket.

Select Checkout Now

Agree to the T&C’s and select ‘Place Order’

Then click the cycle2work option at the top and checkout.

Please make sure your voucher is allocated to our shop.

Once you have checked out please email a copy of your voucher to info@leisurewheels.co.uk

How do I pay for a bike with finance?

Please find the bike you’re looking for on our website and add this to your basket.

Select ‘Checkout Now’

Agree to the T&C’s and select ‘Place Order’

Then click the ‘Novuna Finance’ option at the top and checkout.

You will then be re-directed to fill out a finance application.

How do I pay using Paypal?

Road Bike FAQ

Why do some bikes have drop bars and some have flat bars?: The faster you cycle; the more aerodynamics comes into play. Drop bars allow you to crouch down and reduce drag. This position can greatly increase your speed and efficiency. This comes in handy when you're descending a hill, riding a long flat section, or riding into the wind.
How high should my saddle be?: If you place your heel on the pedal and pedal backwards to reach the six o'clock position. Your knee should be completely straight. If your knee is still bent, you need to increase the height of the saddle.
What are clipless pedals?: A pedal and shoe designed to be used together for optimum efficiency, comfort and power.
Can I go tubeless?: Yes, we would suggest getting this done by us or your local bike shop as it can be a complex job, we charge �£68.00 for 2 wheels, which includes valves, sealant and tape.
Do all road bikes come with pedals?: In most cases, road bikes are sold without pedals. This is so the cyclist can pair the pedals with their existing shoes.

Shipping FAQ

How long does it take to receive my bike after the order is confirmed?: The majority of our bikes if purchased before 12pm are sent out next weekday delivery.
Do you ship to Northen Ireland?: Yes, we do ship to NI. This is chargeable depending on value of the bike.
Do you ship outside the UK?: We unfortunately don’t ship outside the UK.
Can I collect instore?: Yes, of course! We love to meet as many customers in store as possible :)
When my bike arrives do I need to be home?: Yes, someone would need to be home to sign for the bike. We can deliver to Work, neighbour, or grandma etc
What courier do you use?: We use DPD next day service.
